Themes are derived from contemporary life and placed in a Classical Narrative context. This approach challenges the wider public perceptions of Western culture and civilisation by placing them in a more familiar context, and thus hopes to stimulate introspective examination. Detailed Classical or ethnic Ukrainian costumes add visual flavour and a unique aesthetic.

This selection of portaits represent different periods in Ulyana's work, exploring different artisitic styles based on the personality of the person portrayed. The nature of the individual is explored to the highest possible degree with an intense (almost Freudian) focus on expression, counter-balanced with backgrounds grown from a more Classical tradition.
